This has to be the most asked question we receive, and unfortunately it does not have a standard answer.

Putting it simply we don't know exactly, as there are just too many variables that can affect the running costs, and these include:

Levels of insulation in walls, floors and ceilings
Number and size of windows
If there are any walls/windows that are North facing
What temperature the room is set to
How long you keep the room(s) heated
Double or Single Glazing
etc etc

We can only show you an actual test taken, which may or may not be similar to your own property. Running costs are heavily affected by any combination of the above.

3. How easy is it for me to chhose the radiators I need?
Our 25 years of experience has proven to us that allowing customers to self-select can be a dangerous thing! mainly because customers choose the wrong things, and then we all get frustrated (customers and us) with the inconvenience of having to send new units out, collect wrong units which is a hassle.

To ensure this doesn't happen we ask you to let us have your room/home information in the following format.

1. Room type, i.e. Lounge
2. Room size in Metres, (L x W x H)
3. Number of external walls, and are any North facing
4. Is the property double Glazed
5. Age and type of property
6. Has the property been well insulated.
7. How is the property heated now.

Without this information it is almost impossible to select the correct product.

4. What Quality & Safety Certificates do your radiators have
The Thermapanel Premium Steel radiators, have numerous Quality & Safety certificates, which exceed the European and UK requirements. it is vital to ensure that whatever product you choose that the following requirements are met and/or exceeded. 5. How are your Thermapanel Radiators controlled?
All of our radiators can be individually controlled on time and temperature, and the method will depend on the type of radiator selected.

The Thermapanel Premium radiators are available with 6 options.

Option1 - Built in Thermostat only, can be plugged in or Hard Wired - No Timing facility, unless via simple "plug in type" timers.

Option 2 - Individual Radiator Wireless Time & Temperature control.

Option 3 - Individual Room temperature control via built-in thermostat (as Option 1), centrally controlled on a hard wired time programmer.

Option 4 - Central Wireless Programmer for Time & Temperature, meaning all rads are switched on at the same time, but the temperature is managed centrally so all units are set to the same temperature.

Option 5 - Individual Room temperature control via built-in thermostat (as Option 1), centrally controlled on a wireless time programmer.

Option 6 - Individual Wireless Room temperature control via wireless room thermostat, centrally controlled on a Wireless time programmer.

The Thermapanel Classic radiators are available with 2 options.

Option 1 - Individual Radiator Integrated Time & Temperature control.

Option 2 - Individual Room temperature control via wireless thermostat centrally controlled on a hard wired Mains signalling time programmer.

7. How long does delivery take?
Delivery times vary from 2-3 working days to 2-3 weeks depending on stock levels and when and what you order, as most of the products are custom made to order (size, colour, model etc)

8. Can your radiators be self-fitted?
Our radiators are supplied with a plug, and wall brackets, so in its simplest form they can be fitted in around 15-20 minutes each, however for a more permanent fixing, and for central control, we suggest hard-wiring them into the mains supply, and for this we would recommend a fully qualified electrician connects them and sets them up.

9. Where & how is your skirting heating used?
Skirting Heating has been around for over 40 years, and is not new technology. Our Thermodul system provides a balanced and even heat output, and due to the efficiency of the system, means that the supply water temperature can be lower than radiator or underfloor systems, meaning that it is ideal for connection to Heat Pumps.

Put simply it is a great proven alternative to radiators and underfloor heating, with full control per room. Quick and easy to install, it also cuts down on installation costs.

Skirting heating can be used in any domestic or commercial property and is ideal for hard to heat areas, such as kitchens and bathrooms.

10. I have storage heaters on Economy 7, will your radiators work on this tariff?
As our radiators are highly efficient, and warm up very quickly, we do not recommend the use of our radiators on Economy 7.

We recommend the use of any other suitable off-peak tariff, or the negotation of a suitable fixed rate tariff. There are several available, and we suggest you speak with one of our advisors to discuss what's best for your area and circumstances.

As our radiators are so efficient ,quite often the selection of our radiators based upon your home circumstances, will mean that the output and physical sizes will be smaller than what you have now, and assuming they are used correctly will mean substantial savings.

11. Can I use your radiators in Bathrooms?
Absolutely. All versions are all rated at IP24, which means that the electrics inside the radiators are splashproof. However the electrical requirements for installation of the power supply to the radiator states that it must be external to the room.

This applies to both radiators and towel radiators.

12. What colours do the radiators come in?
The Premium radiators are available in standard RAL 9001 (off white), and can be supplied in any Ral colour, however this will add to the delivery time, and is also at extra cost.

13. Are the radiators hot to touch and safe for Children and the Elderly?
The Premium range are known as LST (low surface temperature) meaning that both Children and the Elderly can touch and hold on to the radiator without it burning or falling off the wall. The maximum suface temperature is 64 F.

Additionally the Classic radiators are also just as safe with a slightly higher temperature of 68 F.

14. Can I use them in my home abroad?
If your property is connected to a power supply between 220-240 volts, then they will work in the same was as if they were installed here. If however they are to be used on any other supply such as 110 volts (like in the US) the please call us for advice.

15. How long does it take to heat the room up?
From a cold start it takes between 20-25 minutes to get the room up to your desired temperature setting.

16. Can the radiators be run on Economy 7?

Yes the radiators can be run on Economy 7 however this tariff is designed for storage heaters and is not appropriate for our Thermapanel radiators, as our radiators do not have a

long storage period. Thermapanel radiators can be run on the low cost Economy 10 tariff that is provided by Scottish and Southern Energy or Scottish Power.

This off-peak electricity is available from 04:30-07:30hrs, 13:00–16:00hrs and 20:30–00:30hrs, depending on where you live.

17. Are the radiators more economical than storage heaters?

Thermapanel radiators are more efficient and economical than storage heaters.

The radiators work using a combination of stored heat and direct acting and heat is produced quickly and efficiently.

The radiators are totally controllable via the timer and thermostat.

Storage heaters however offer background heat dissipation from the early morning charge yet the heat is often needed to be supplemented by direct electrical heaters on peak time electricity, increasing the cost.

19. How long is the power cable?
The cable is normally 1.5m long, but can be ordered longer or shorter as required.

20. Which side does the power cable come out?
The power supply comes out the bottom of the radiator, and as the radiator is identical on both sides, this means that if you turn the radiator round you can choose whether you want it bottom left or right to suit your nearest power point.

21. Are the Thermapanel Radiators suitable for use in Bathrooms?

Yes as The radiator is a “class 1” IP44 device and it can be installed in bathrooms

provided that no electric control unit can be touched by people using the bath-tub

or the shower. If the radiator is installed in zone 2 or zone 3 it must be connected to

a dedicated spur connection in the appropriate zone.
